The BASS Kids of Indiana, an Indiana Junior BASS Club, have completed their sixth season of fishing. Even though stress is put more on having fun then competition, the fishing performance of the kids has grown over the years, making the competition tougher. When catching ten to twelve short bass a day use to be good, now catching five or six short fish and three to five keeper bass is normal. You can see that these kids are learning quickly the "how-to's" of bass fishing. On an average there were three to four kids at each of the six tournaments bringing bags of keeper bass in with three, four, and even five fish in them.
All in all though, the one thing that was apparent in all the kids is that they all had a lot of fun! That's what fishing is about.
The standings for the 2002 year are as follows:

Congratulations to Brad. This was his first year in the club.
Some of the kids from this club fished the 2002 Indiana State Youth Finals at Monroe Reservoir. Making the 2003 Indiana Youth State Team from this club are; Brad Williams, Mark Gibbs, Daniel Suttles, and Aaron Bennington. Congratulations to these youths for a job well done. Stop and meet some of these kids this next year at the Boat, Sport, & Travel show. They will be helping out at the I.B.C.F. booth promoting Junior Bass Clubs and youth fishing in this state.
Along with awards and prizes at the tournaments and banquet, these kids have taken home new friendships and a better understanding of nature and all that it has to offer. This is what makes fishing the most fun.
We look forward to a new and exciting season this next year and what new things we can learn and accomplish.
Can't wait till spring!
