2007 TEAM INDIANA WINS

On Lake Erie during the week of September the 9th through the 14th the 2007 Indiana State Team proved to be a Team to reckon with. They were in second place after day one. They fell to third place after day two. Yet, on the day that mattered, day three they did what they set out to do.

THEY WON!

The first day of competition was one that saw all fishermen restricted to Sandusky Bay. The weather forced the tournament officials into putting Lake Erie off limits because of safety issues. T.J. Edwards took the lead for Indiana by fishing a crank bait around rip rap rock and was in second place overall. On day two he opted to run from Sandusky to Detroit and did not fair so well. Terry McWilliams took the second day lead for Indiana and never relinquished it. On days two and three our Team got to see what fishing 25 to 30 foot deep felt like. A few of the Ohio River anglers said they didn't think fish could live that deep.

A drop shot rig was how most of them caught their fish on the last two days. Terry McWilliams fished his 'stupid tube' all three days and caught a majority of his fish on that. Terry's total weight for three days was 34 pounds and 4 ounces. Terry along with Mike Seal will be attending the TBF National Championship in Charlotte, N.C. on the 22nd through the 28th of April in 2008. They will be fishing on Lake Wylie. Terry will be the Angler and Mike will be the Co-Angler. Mike's total weight was 26 pounds and 12 ounces. They both could wind up making the BFL All American if they finish in first place for the Northern Division. Terry will have a shot at the TBF Living the Dream package. This consists of a wrapped Ranger Boat, a wrapped Chevy Truck and entries paid in to either the Stren Series or the FLW Series. All Terry has to do is finish as the Top Angler at the National Championship. The Top Finishing Angler and Co-Angler at the National Championship will move on to the BFL All American and they automatically attend the FLW CUP in 2008. The Angler would have a shot at a Million dollar purse.

Ken Bortlein and T.J. Edwards tied for third place on the Indiana Team with 22 pounds and 7 ounces. They will move on to fish the TBF Northern Bassfan Divisional. They could qualify for the Bassfan Weekend Warrior Championship in 2009. Four of our Team Members have a chance at another round of advancement.

Rounding out the 2007 Team was Tony Hubbard with 20 pounds. Ron Shekell finished with 17-9, Kelly Hook with 13-13, Tom Stark with 12-02, Tom Forrester with 11-3, Chris Schultz with 8-4, Craig Rogers with 6-10 and Clay Kenworthy with 5-14. Each Team Member made it to the scales to set up an Indiana Victory. Great Job guys!

The States final three day totals were- Indiana with 201-5, Wisconsin with 187-1, Minnesota with 171-6, Michigan with 164-2, Illinois with 157-13 and the host state of Ohio with 135-2.

The Team would like to thank the Indiana Bass Federation Members for their support. We would also like to thank the TBF and the following sponsors for making this possible.

Ranger Boats, Solar Bat, Minn Kota, Lowrance Electronics, Plano Manufacturing, Pure Fishing, Kistler Rods, Prowler Lures, Blackhawk Custom Outfitters, Touchdown Lures, T&S Lures and Berne Apparel.
