IBF TOURNAMENT TRAIL
DIRECTOR'S NEWSLETTER
MONROE II

2004 Newsletter No. 4

August 22, 2004

The fifth tournament in the Indiana Bass Federation Tournament Trail was held on Lake Monroe on Sunday, August 22, 2004. It was sponsored by the Outdoorsman Sport Shop in Greenwood, Indiana. Thanks to Gary McPherson and his family and crew. The weather and water conditions were great. There was a one and one-half hour fog delay on take off but, as always, somebody still found the fish.

Top-five Co-Angler winners: 1st place Henry Cavazos; 2nd place Kevin Tate; 3rd place Shorty Latour, 4th place Darin, McKim and 5th place Brad Williams.

On the Co-angler side Henry Cavazos was the man with three fish weighing 6.24 pounds for first place. Second was Kevin Tate with three fish weighing 5.84 pounds. Third was Rob "Shorty" Latour with one fish at 5.02 pounds. Fourth was Darin McKim with one fish at 3.70 pounds and finishing out the top five was Brad Williams with one fish at 3.62 pounds. Rob "Shorty" Latour's one fish at 5.02 pounds was also Big Bass on the Co-angler side. This was Shorty's third Big Bass this season. Unbelievable! The Progress Big Bass weight was not hit so it will carry over to Wawasee. If no one hits the weight at Wawasee the money will be given out to the top three big fish. So all you Co-Anglers find an Angler and come up to Wawasee where one fish could be worth about $2,000.00.

Angler top five and big bass: 1st place Aaron Ault, 2nd place Mike Quinlin, 3rd place Steve Sendelweck, 4th place Dale Fess, 5th place Shawn Bruntlett and Stu Moyer w/Big Bass

The overall point leader on the Co-angler side is Walter Pedigo with 395. Second is Jason Murray with 348. Third is Joe Valles at 339. Fourth is Greg Pitts with 327. Fifth is Steve Littrell with 327 points. Fortieth place is Ken Gibbs with 176 points. There is still a good chance for a lot of Co-Anglers to make the classic.

On the angler side Aaron Ault made the right adjustments and found three good fish that weighed 10.34 pounds to win the Angler side and collect the 100 points toward the Classic. Second was Mike Quinlin with four fish at 9.94 pounds. Third was Steve Sendelweck with two fish at 7.56 pounds. Fourth was Dale Fess with three fish at 7.00 pounds. Fifth was Shawn Burntlett with three fish that weighed 6.80 pounds.

The Angler of the Year race is really getting tight with the top five Anglers within forty points of each other. In first place with 429 points is Scott Bateman, second is Paul Jones with 428, third is Mark Dove with 414 points, fourth is Terry McWiliams in at 409 points and fifth place is Steve Sendelweck in with 391 points. Fortieth place is Rick Humphrey with 216 points. The top 40 spots are still wide open so it looks like Wawasee will decide who will be in those spots.

The Big Bass Progressive pot on the Angler side was hit by Stu Moyer who brought in a 6.52 pound large mouth to the scales. The target weight was 6.5 pounds so that .02 pound was worth about $3,000.00 for Stu. Good job!

Don't forget if you have fished five of the six tournaments you qualify for the Wild Card Tournament. It will be held at Lake Salamonie on Sunday September 26, 2004. You can sign up at the ramp or call after the Wawasee tournament for entry forms. Entry fee is $50.00 for both Anglers and Co-anglers and it would be greatly appreciated that if you are paying in cash you have the correct amount so I don't have to try to make change that early in the morning!

     See you at Wawasee.

Rob Worthy,
Tournament Director
